In the past few years, the most common threat to cybersecurity is the cloud ransomware attack. One such attack was the WannaCry Ransomware attack, a global ransomware attack, which spread across 300,000 systems running on the Microsoft Windows operating system in the year 2017 by encrypting user’s data and demanding ransom in form of Bitcoin cryptocurrency. This attack was caused by the WannaCry Ransomware crypto worm. With over 20,000 victims in 150 countries, data worth millions was hacked.

The major organization that suffered from this attack is the National Health Service(NHS). Though NHS was not a specific target, it faced a major loss of over $100 million and as the attack caused more than 19,000 appointments to be canceled.
